Top officials of the University of Newcastle arrived in the country last week to review the outcome of the just concluded Australian Fellowship Award Program they hosted for the Public Service Commission early this year.

Today the team of Prof. Jim Jose and Dr. Patricia Johnson held a meeting with PSC commissioners and directors who participated in Round 17 of the three weeks program that focused on strengthening public service performance and building capacity for effective governance. Dr Jose also issued graduation certificates to the commissioners and directors who will now become fellows of the Australian Fellowship Award program.
The fellowships are awarded by the Australian government through a competitive process to their institutions to enhance capacity in institutions from developing countries.

The fellowships target current and future leaders and mid-career professionals in positions to influence and advance priority foreign affairs and development issues. The program also aims to strengthen partnerships and links between Australian organizations and partner organizations in developing countries in support of Australia’s economic and international relations policy.
Dr Jose and Dr Johnson are also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary Prof. Margaret Kobia during their week-long visit.
