The Chief Justice Martha Koome has underscored the importance of government entities abiding by the law in the course of discharging their mandates.
She said this on 20th January 2025 at the Kenyatta Convention Centre (KICC) during the swearing in ceremony of the Public Service Commission’s Vice Chairperson and Seven Members.
“Public Service Commission is the back born of the public service a pillar for the implementation of sound Human Resource practices and promotion of professionalism accountability and ethical conduct across the public sector,” she said.
She at the same time reiterated that the public sector should be that which serves the public with high levels of integrity and respond to the needs and aspirations of the people they serve.
The Chief Justice noted that the work PSC undertakes has a direct bearing on how public institutions serve Kenyans.

“The Public Service Commission must lead in creating a public service that is competent, inclusive and efficient while fostering a culture of innovation and responsiveness to the needs of all Kenyans.” She alluded.
The Vice Chairperson and the seven members were appointed vide gazette notice number 385 and 386 respectively.
The appointed board comprises Vice Chairperson Mary Wanjira Kimonye, Commissioners Harun Maalim Hassan, Mwanamaka Amani Mabruki, Boya Molu, Dr. Irene Cherotich Asienga, Dr. Francis Otieno Owino, Joan Andisi Machayo, and Francis Meja.
The positions were advertised on 12th November 12, 2024, and nine candidates were shortlisted for the Vice Chairperson position and 62 candidates for the PSC Member position.
