The Public Service Commission Chairperson Amb. Anthony Muchiri is the new President of the Association of African Public Services Commissions (AAPSCOMS). Amb. Muchiri emerged the winner during the AAPSCOMS 6th General Assembly elections held on 7th November 2024 at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya.
In his inaugural speech as AAPSCOMS incoming President, Amb. Muchiri committed to revamping the association for the better. He also noted that one of his main goals is to expand the memberships and make AAPSCOMS a formidable force for championing the transformation of public service across the continent.
“AAPSCOMS is now 16 years old and there is a need to revitalize it to attain our objectives. I endeavour to foster closer collaboration and stronger ties among our members through regular consultations and knowledge-sharing platforms,” said Amb. Muchiri.
In addition, the newly elected President passionately expressed his desire to lobby for more partnerships from private organizations, government and non-governmental institutions to achieve the set AAPSCOMS goals.
The Chairpersons of Public Service Commissions of Tanzania, South Africa and Nigeria were elected as Vice Presidents of the association representing eastern, southern and West African regions respectively.
The newly elected AAPSCOMS leaders will serve for a term of two years after which a new election will be held during the 7th AAPSCOMS General Assembly slated for 2026 in Abuja, Nigeria.
