The incoming leadership of the Association of African Public Service Commissions (AAPSCOMS) has pledged to put in place far-reaching measures that will mainly focus on fulfilling citizenry priorities.
AAPSCOMS newly elected President Amb. Anthony Muchiri has said since its establishment, the Association has not fully connected with the citizenry, more so the young generation. He said this during the power handover ceremony held on 8th November 2024 at Safari Park Hotel.
“As AAPSCOMS, why are we not able to connect with the citizenry, more so the young generation? As the new President, I will strive to ensure that we address this challenge,” Amb. Muchiri stated.
The President who was speaking on the final day of the 6th General Assembly and Conference of the AAPSCOMS attended by 10 African countries and representatives from three African countries said although power comes with responsibility, the critical focus is the legacy you leave behind.
Amb. Muchiri who is also the Chairperson Public Service Commission of Kenya reiterated the need for the Association to uphold values and principles that promote effective and efficient service delivery to the citizens.
“We will be measured continental-wise and globally. What cultures do we bring to the table,” explained the President.
Amb. Muchiri pledged to take the Association to greater heights during his reign as President.
“I promise to take the Association to greater heights because that is what I will be measured for when I transfer the mantle to another official in 2026,” the President observed.
He thanked all the delegates for taking part in the just concluded three-day AAPSCOMS 6th General Assembly and Conference, saying their participation has made the conference successful.
The other three elected Vice-Presidents are Prof. Tunji Olaopa, Vice President, of AAPSCOMS, representing the West Africa Region, Lady Justice (Rtd) Hamisa Kalombola, Vice President, of AAPSCOMS, East Africa Region and Prof. Somadoda Fikeni, Vice President, AAPSCOMS, who represents the Southern Africa Region.
On behalf of the other two representatives, Prof. Tunji Olaopa pledged unconditional support to Amb. Muchiri.

The Western region Vice-President also used the opportunity to announce that the 7th AAPSCOMS general assembly and conference will be held in Abuja, Nigeria in 2026.
“I send an invitation to all of you and let’s meet in 2026 in Abuja Nigeria,” Prof. Olaopa announced.
