Public Service Commission Chairperson Amb. Anthony Muchiri has called on the national government to consider funding more capacity building programmes for public servants. The PSC Chairperson was speaking during the Graduation Ceremony of the second cohort of the  Public Service Emerging Leaders Fellowship (PSELF), at Safari Park Hotel on 22nd March 2024.

“ There is no productivity without proper training. I therefore urge the government to support more capacity building programmes to achieve an effective and efficient public service,” said Amb. Muchiri.

Mr. Muchiri also encouraged the PSELF graduates to be confident and apply the skills, ethics and values they have acquired throughout the one-year training programme.

Speaking at the same event, the Head of Public Service and the Chief Guest Felix Koskei challenged all public servants to serve with dignity and integrity. He noted that the Kenya Kwanza government will not tolerate corruption and lawlessness.

“ As a PSELF graduate, don’t fall into the traditional culture of laziness, corruption and nepotism in the public service. Just follow the law and serve with dedication, “ said Mr. Koskei.

The head of public service further assured the PSC of the government’s support in expanding the PSELF programme to ensure most of the public servants also go through the training.

During the PSELF graduation ceremony, the Commission certified 61 fellows who have been taken through the 12-months long Comprehensive training. Since inception in 2021, over 100 newly employed public servants have been trained and certified.

Also in attendance were, Principal Secretary Public Service Mr. Amos Gathecha, Director

General United Nations Madam Zainab Hawa,  PSELF steering committee Chairperson Emmanuel Lubembe, Executive Director, Emerging Leaders Foundation Ms. Caren Wakoli, Vice-chairperson Rockefeller Foundation Mr. William Asiko.
