Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Administration of National Government, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, this morning, 23.01.2023, held a consultative meeting with the Public Service Commission board to explore ways of addressing the human resource challenges facing the security sector.
The country, he noted is experiencing security threats including armed incursions by al Shabab militant groups in northern Kenya, cattle rustling in the north rift and narcotics and illicit alcohol consumption that must be stopped immediately for peace and stability to prevail.
Prof Kindiki assured the Commission that his ministry will relentlessly fight the security threats to ensure the country is safe and called for enhanced collaboration with the Commission to address the human resource capacity challenges.
“The interior ministry carries the weight of the national interest but that is not feasible if the country is perceived to be unsafe,” said Prof Kindiki, as he commended the Public Service Commission as a critical partner in providing the right human resource for the state departments in the security sector to fulfil their mandates.
PSC chairperson Amb. Anthony Muchiri reaffirmed the commission's commitment to working with all government institutions to improve service delivery in the country.
"As a commission, we are open to continuous engagement with all government institutions in all matters of concern within our jurisdiction to ensure the Kenya Kwanza agenda is realized," said Amb Muchiri.
Also in attendance were PSC Vice chairperson Charity Kisotu and commissioners, Commission Secretary/CEO Dr Simon Rotich and the director of human resource in the state department for interior Benson Githua.
